The importance position of social media in advertising clients' reputations

The importance position of social media in advertising clients' reputations

Social media has a critical position in public relations. The first blog explains the main mission of PR is to maintain a good reputation for a brand or a group of people. The way to achieve this goal is to deliver good and positive messages relate with the company's brand. The most common way that PR picks to use is through social media, such as Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Snap chat, and LinkedIn etc. These powerful social media tools can spread news to the whole world in a very short time period. If PR finds the right and efficient way to use social media, it is able to help PR to finish their goal in an easy and quick way. However, if PR do not know how to use the power of social media in a right way, the outcomes that spread negative news cannot be redeem. Readers can post any comments they have through social media. These comments would be diffused to someone who even does not have chance to know the real situation. When there is one person tries to spread a negative news, there is no big influence. Think about more than thousand people talk about the same thing, there would be a big social influence there.

Let us thinking the power of social media through a specific example:

Twice is a girl's k-pop group. It belongs to one of the biggest entertainment company in Korea, which is JYP. TZUYU is one of the Chinese member in Twice.

TZUYU comes from Taiwan, which is an island unified  with the mainland of China after World War 2. Before that time, Taiwan was an independence island because of some political conflicts. People in the mainland of China all believe that Taiwan is part of China. However, people in Taiwan do not want agree with this. Therefore, Taiwan problem is a sensitive topic. It is not smart to talk about a political issue in front of everyone.

TZUYU did want people do not agree with her. She denied her Chinese nationality. She said she comes from Taiwan which is not part of China.
Because of this, her Chinese fans explored, and all expressed that they were very disappointed. There were some people who do not know her start to remember this name and talk about that. Her reputation and image went down to the bottom in just one week. TZUYU ended this event through writing an apologize letter, and published the video she recorded. However, fans already felt disappointed and were not willing to trust her and follow her again.
Through this PR case, we can feel and understand the power of social media. PR should really care about the way to use social media, and need to pay attention on what happened every day.
